Mercer Celgar is one of North America's newest and largest single-line sustainable softwood kraft pulp mills, located in Castlegar, B.C. Mercer Celgar is part of Mercer International, which owns and operates a total of four best in class softwood kraft mills, a sandalwood mill, and a sawmill.
Celgar's Environment team has the following opportunity:
Environmental Engineering/Sciences Co-operative Student:
Environmental Engineering or Science Student (ie, Diploma or Degree Program) for a 4 month work term; May to August, 2020.
Main focus will be completing a &ldquocradle to gate&rdquo carbon footprint report for all 4 Mercer pulp mills - the report will be based off the &ldquoTen Toes of Carbon&rdquo.
Co-op term will also involve laboratory testing for both process and environmental monitoring.
Ideal candidate will be a self-motivated individual who is outgoing and comfortable engaging with suppliers and managers to gather the information required in a safety-sensitive, heavy industrial environment.
