Position: Natural Resource Referral Worker-Yunesit’in Development Enterprise (YDE)
Classification:Full-time, Permanent position. 35 hours per week
Salary:$23.00 -$28.00 per hour, depending on experience
Location:Hanceville BC- 1 hour and 30 minutes from Williams Lake, BC

The Yunesit’in Development Enterprise (YDE) is currently seeking a full-timeNatural Resource Referral Worker.The candidate will be responsible for reviewing referrals, which are proposed projects that are submitted by the government or other organizations. Referrals can vary from forestry, wildlife, archaeology, mining/oil and gas, and agriculture. The candidate will evaluate, and respond to the submitted referrals and then relay the projects to the chief and council.
Yunesitin Development Enterprise (YDE) was created in 2009 to create and support economic opportunities for Community members within the Yunesitin Caretaker Area. YDE is now the largest employer in the community with 20 to 25 full-time seasonal employees.
The Yunesit’in Nation is a First Nations community located West of Williams Lake. They are a part of the Tsilhqot’in Nation, which is made up of six communities that share a common language and culture. The Yunesit’in Nation continues to assert their rights and protect their land. They are actively involved in resource management decisions that affect their territory, striving to maintain a balance between economic development and environmental sustainability.
Preference will be given to those of Aboriginal Ancestry- Section 16(1) Canadian Human Rights Act.
Key Responsibilities
* Will be the Forest Landscape Planning Community Rep, alongside the active supervisor (FLRP);
* Main point of contact for the community fire crew;
* Review incoming natural resource referrals received;
* Evaluate proposed activities in relation to potential impacts on Tsilhqot’in traditional use and values;
* Field work (when necessary) within the Tsilhqot’in territory;
* Consistent communication with community members to record findings and recommendations and inform responses;
* Submit responses to proponents by the closing date;
* Work with community and the province on projects;
* Other duties as assigned.Preferred Requirements
* Degree or Diploma in Natural Resources, or equivalent three years of experience;
* Experience working with First Nation communities;
* Can work independently or as a team;
* Knowledge of the Tsilhqot’in communities, culture and traditions;
* Valid BC Driver’s License and access to a reliable vehicle with appropriate insurance;
* Competent with computers, Microsoft Word and Excel and able to learn new software;
* Experience dealing with a wide rang of land and natural resource management issues, with a focus on land management, forestry and/ or mining; Working Conditions
* Travel will be required.
* Overtime as required.
* All types of weather.
* Manuel dexterity required to use desktop computer.
